This is a gentle, low impact class where we will get warm and out of puff but in a way that will feel manageable for you. We will use resistance bands to work on getting strength back, and do some exercises to help restore our balance and flexibility. This is suitable for all people and can be done in a chair. It can also be adapted for anyone wishing to increase their activity levels.

This is intentionally a supportive class and we'll do it together. Each session will be recorded and sent back to you for you to repeat at your leisure.

If you're just embarking on trying to be more active after a cancer diagnosis, this is a really good place to start.

Weight training - 8 week course for anyone with a cancer diagnosis.

8 week weight training course, once a week, starting April 22nd. Suitable for anyone with a cancer diagnosis.

Each weekly session will be up to one hour in length. A recording of the session will be sent to you so that you can repeat it before the next class. Maximum of 12 in each class.

You need a small selection of hand weights to begin - my suggestion is a pair of 1kg, 2kg and 5kg dumbells. Resistance bands could be used, or if you want to start really light, a couple of 500ml and 1L filled water bottles or tins of beans would do the job. You can start this class with whatever you've got and we'll work out whether you should buy more weights, and when.

This class suitable for those with a stoma, and those with lymphoedema (as long as you're not currently experiencing cellulitis). It's also suitable for those who are stage 4, but please let me know if you have bone mets. Also suitable for anyone with peripheral neuropathy, and those currently on chemo, immunotherapy or herceptin. The moves we use are adapted to be safe with a PICC or Port.

If you've had cancer surgery, it needs to be at least 8 weeks ago, and 12 weeks since breast reconstruction.

Wednesday is weights day.

12 week weight training courses, once a week, starting April 20th. Courses are now fully booked. Next ones start in September.
